Kendriya Vidyalaya, Embassy of India, Kathmandu (K.V. EOI Kathmandu) holds the distinction of being one of only three Kendriya Vidyalayas located outside India — the others being in Moscow and Tehran. The school was established in 1973 under the Indian Cooperative Mission (ICM) to cater to the educational needs of children of Indian government employees serving in Indian Missions and allied organizations in Nepal.
In its early years, the school was supported and administered under ICM. Upon the dissolution of the Indian Cooperative Mission in 1980, the responsibility for the Vidyalaya’s management was assumed by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu. The land for the school was generously provided within the premises of the Indian Embassy, and the infrastructure was developed by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
K.V. EOI Kathmandu has since evolved into a premier educational institution, offering CBSE-affiliated education from Class I to Class XII, with Science and Commerce streams at the Senior Secondary level. The Ambassador of India to Nepal serves as the Patron of the Vidyalaya, while the Deputy Chief of Mission acts as the ex-officio Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC).
With a legacy spanning over five decades, the Vidyalaya continues to uphold the ideals of academic excellence, cultural integration, and character-building that define Kendriya Vidyalayas across the globe.
