Model United Nations (MUN) at KV, EOI, Kathmandu, like other MUN conferences, serves as an invaluable platform for students to develop a deeper understanding of global diplomacy, international relations, and the mechanisms of the United Nations. The genesis of MUN can be traced back to the early 20th century, where it emerged as an educational simulation of the UN to engage young people in learning about international policy-making. By participating in MUN at KV Kathmandu, students are encouraged to research, debate, and negotiate on real-world issues, building critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills. These conferences not only promote awareness about global challenges but also foster empathy, tolerance, and cultural understanding among participants, preparing them to become informed global citizens and future leaders.
Intra-School Model United Nations (MUN) was conducted from 8th to 10th May at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, providing students with an enriching platform to develop their communication, research, leadership and diplomatic skills. Students participated as delegates representing different countries and engaged in structured debates, discussions and negotiations on contemporary global issues. The event encouraged critical thinking, confidence, teamwork, public speaking and an understanding of international relations and the functioning of the United Nations. The MUN concluded with active participation and meaningful deliberations, making it a valuable learning experience for the students.
